Welcome to Rhode Island!

Rhode Island Road Runners | the smallest state's largest running club

Stewards of the Sport

Aprylle Gilbert is running coast to coast along historic Route 6 to raise money for kids: Aprylle’s Coast-to-Coast for Kids run was conceived as a way of supporting youth activism by helping Washington United Youth Center in San Jose improve their after-school programs that build confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills in local, under-served kids. She encourages “Public Charities” along the 6 to use this special event to help their own local youth organizations.

Rhode Island Road Runners has been contacted to help Aprylle traverse the Route 6 Corridor from the CT border, through Providence and into MA. While we certainly have what must be the shortest cross-state part, it doesn't lack difficulty – Route 6 is a good amount of freeway from Johnston through the capital city. We will be looking for members to help Shepard Aprylle as she crosses RI and nears her ultimate destination of Provincetown MA. We expect this to be in late September. Interested?

You can learn more about her run here and here.
