Purpose: Celebrate recognition of Route 6’s scenic, historic, natural and recreational assets; support rural tourism and community economic benefits.

Why it’s important:

• U.S. Route 6 now becomes the state’s 24th scenic byway and the longest byway in Pennsylvania at 211 miles.
• The designation reflects years of effort by the Alliance and 34 municipalities along the corridor.
• This can lead to greater tourism, increased visibility for local businesses, and preservation of the area’s natural and cultural landscape.
